Top User Meet - Chennai

In an effort to get closer to our Community, the Community Development team has been conducting a series of 'Top User Meets' across various Indian cities.

The objective of these meets is for our users to get a chance to meet and interact with eBay staff, learn more about eBay, and have their queries answered.

The latest 'Top User Meet' was conducted at Chennai on Saturday, the 8th of April. Around 35 of our top users from Chennai attended this meeting, and interacted with eBay staff – Sharat, Prashant, Murali, Sunil and Bhuvan. Most of the users were buyers, and there were a few sellers.

New Features
Launch of Third Party Online Dispute Resolution Mechanism
This important and useful feature was launched in March. We also conducted a workshop where staff from the Third Party Team were available to answer queries from our Community. You can view more details of this here.

Enhanced PaisaPay Purchase Protection
We raised the maximum limit of protection under eBay Standard Protection Program (ESPP) from the existing amount of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000 for transactions paid through PaisaPay. Click here to find out more!

New eBay Counters
We launched our own counters, to replace the existing Andale counters. Sellers now have a new "Hidden Counter" option, which displays the number of views only to the seller. Find out more here.

Coming Soon...
New Version of Turbo Lister

During the past year we've worked with you to make improvements to Turbo Lister, a free listing tool that helps make listing items in bulk on eBay faster and easier. We greatly appreciate the time many of you took to try out the early release versions and send us your feedback, so a huge Thank You from the Turbo Lister team!

The new version of the Turbo Lister will have

  • Easier listing process – Now you can create listings within a single page. You can also customize the options you want to see on the page, allowing you to look only at the fields that you use.
  • Enhanced editing capabilities – Now you can edit your items directly in the main inventory list. Change the prices, modify the title, and make other quick changes from the list view without having to open another window.
  • Faster performance – We've also made some technical changes to the new Turbo Lister to make it faster and more reliable.

Keep watching our Announcement Board for more details on this exciting new launch!

My Seller is No Longer Registered User. What do I do?

We have often seen our buyers getting confused when they find their seller is suspended (No Longer A Registered User). Our user Sameer has similar concerns and Manish from eBay Customer Support helped him out. He will like to share his information with other users for their benefit. (Please note that this is only an illustrative example, and is not a LIVE Chat Session)

Sameer: Hi, I have a problem! I had been a winning bidder for 1 item, but the seller is suspended, please advice how do I go about it now?

Manish - CS: Have you made the payment for the item?

Sameer: No, but I m interested to complete the deal

Manish - CS: eBay recommends you not to complete the sale with a suspended member.

Sameer: Why is that so?

Manish - CS: If the seller has become 'not a registered user', whether or not you decide to complete the transaction is at your discretion. However, eBay does not suggest completing a transaction with an unregistered seller because of the potential problems you could run into. If you're unsure about the sale then it would be best if you choose not to complete the sale. If you decide to do this, you may want to email the seller and kindly explain your decision to him or her.

Sameer: Can you tell me why the seller is suspended?

Manish - CS: Unfortunately, I am unable to provide reasons as to why this member is no longer registered; nor can I disclose information about whether they will be back on the site.

Sameer: I have another transaction, where I made the payment, but now the seller is suspended. How shall I go about?

Manish - CS: Ok as you have made the payment I would suggest you contact the seller for the delivery details of the item.

Sameer: I had transacted before 2 weeks and now there is no response. I tried calling the seller also, but again no response.

Manish - CS: As you have paid for the item and not received the same I request you to report the Item Not Received Dispute by going to your "My eBay" and clicking on Dispute Console. Please note that buyers can begin an Item Not Received or Significantly Not As Described dispute between 10 and 60 days after the transaction date.

Sameer: what resolution I will get by doing this?

Manish - CS: Disputes over items not received or received but significantly not as described can usually be resolved by direct communication between buyers and sellers. To help resolve the dispute, eBay provides an online process where buyers and sellers can communicate with each other.

Sameer: But seller is not responding and I need my money back

Manish - CS: eBay's Standard Purchase Protection Program reimburses buyers for eligible transactions where an item was purchased on eBay and either not received or was received but significantly not as described. If the payment has been made through PaisaPay you may be reimbursed up to a maximum of Rs.50,000 (less Rs.50 to cover processing costs). If the payment has been made through other payment methods you may be reimbursed up to a maximum of Rs.10,000 (less Rs.50 to cover processing costs).

Sameer: Thanks, I think this helps

Manish - CS: No problem. Do ensure you follow all timelines mentioned above.
