Seller Resource:
How do I manage my business to accommodate the changes?
We understand that our sellers may need to make changes to their business plan to accommodate the above mentioned changes. We encourage you to become familiar with numerous business metrics that will help you track the success of your eBay business and determine your new listing strategy.

Total Sales: Total sales are a fundamental indicator of the health of your business, as it is the aggregate measure of performance over a given period of time.

Average Selling Price (ASP): The Average Selling Price (ASP) of all the items you sell is also a critical metric. To calculate your ASP, divide your total sales by total items sold.

Success Rate: Success rate is the total number of items you've sold divided by the total number of items you've listed. A full understanding of success Rates by format (Auction vs. BIN), product, and price allows you to offer the right product at the right price. This further ensures that you get the best possible sales volume and profit margins.

For example, if the success rate of listings in the price range of Rs. 8000 is greater than that of price range of Rs. 14000, you might want to focus more on the Rs. 8000 range listings.

Another example on similar lines will be, if the success rate for auction listings is better than that of BIN listings, you might want to increase the mix of auctions in your product portfolio.

Following are some more suggestions that may help you evaluate and define your listing strategy on eBay.in:

  1. Evaluate all your listings that have sold once in the past 3 months. Since users have shown interest in these listings, you may want to ensure that these listings are always available to your visitors and buyers.
  2. Identify listings that did not sell and explore the possible reasons for the same. Based on our learnings, listings with following characteristics have greater chance of selling:
    1. The price on the listing is competitive.
    2. Listing has a Gallery image (a thumbnail image on the search / browse page) that makes it more attractive for potential buyers..
    3. Detailed and accurate descriptions help potential buyers make quick decisions on the product.
  3. Identify the listings that you think have the potential to sell. If there are listings that you think can sell well, you may wish to promote it by various modes on eBay. It is also helpful to keep a tab on the promotions being run on eBay's Home page, and have your listings featured in those promotions.
Few best practices followed by some successful eBay sellers:
  1. Tracking prices in the offline market, as well as, of online competitors on a regular basis.
  2. Tracking page views on various listings. A listing with many page views might indicate that the listing had buyers who found the listing interesting enough to visit it. It is then helpful to explore as to how you can convert the interest into sale.
  3. Exploring new product lines can help generate interest from more number of buyers.
  4. Enhance your feedback ratings by sending regular reminders to your buyers, encouraging them to leave feedback for you.
Attend an online workshop
To help sellers understand the impact of Fee changes, we will be conducting few Online Workshops. The workshops will discuss various tools available to sellers, which can help them enhance their listings and decide a listing strategy.
Details of the Workshop will be announced soon.

Getting credits for relisted items
Listing Fees will be credited if your item does not sell successfully (including Unpaid Item) for the first time, but is successfully sold in the 1st relist instance.
How do I relist my products to be eligible for the credit?
You may relist the products in any of the following manner:
  • My eBay - You may select all products you wish to relist (from your unsold item list) and click the Relist button.
  • Selling Manager - Select the check box for the items that you want to relist (from your Unsold items list) and click the "Relist" tab.
  • SMPro - You can set your listing automation preferences to relist an unsold item only once.
What are the eligibility criteria for the Listing Fees credit in case the listing is not sold successfully in the 1st relist instance?
  • You must relist the item within 90 days of the closing date of the original listing.
  • Relist the item by:
    • Clicking the Relist your item" link on the View Item page for the ended listing.
    • Select all products you wish to relist (from your unsold item list) and click the Relist button.
    • Select the check box for the items that you want to relist (from your Unsold items list) and click the "Relist" tab.
  • Only the first relisting of an item is eligible. Subsequent relistings of the same item do not qualify.
  • If the relisted item doesn't sell the first time you relist it, you will not receive a Listing Fees credit.
  • Shop Inventory Format and Multiple Item ("Dutch") auctions do not qualify for Listing Fees credit.
  • The starting price you set for the relisted item must not be greater than that of the original listing.
  • If the original listing did not have a reserve price, and you add one to the relisted item, it will not qualify for a Listing Fees credit.
  • If the original listing had a reserve price, and you increase the reserve price when you relist, it will not qualify for a Listing Fees credit.
Note: You will not receive Fees credit for listing features, such as Bold, Highlight etc. After your relisted item is sold, you'll be charged the applicable Final Value Fee.
What to do if the original listing had a non-paying bidder or the buyer returned the item for a refund?
Before you relist the item, file an Unpaid Item dispute for the original listing and request a Final Value Fees credit when you close the dispute. You can close the dispute after the buyer has responded at least once, or if the buyer does not respond within 7 days.

You have several options to choose from when you close the dispute:

"We've agreed not to complete the transaction" - With this option, the buyer does not receive an Unpaid Item strike. You'll receive a Final Value Fees credit and the item will become eligible for a Listing Fees credit when you relist it.
"I no longer wish to communicate with or wait for the buyer" - With this option, the buyer receives an Unpaid Item strike. You'll receive a Final Value Fee credit, and the item will become eligible for a Listing Fees credit when you relist it.
"We've completed the transaction and we're both satisfied" - You should only choose this option if the buyer has paid for the item because you won't get a credit.
Please wait until we've credited the Final Value Fees to your account before you relist the item.

If you are having problems with non-paying bidders, you can block specific members or members with low feedback ratings from bidding on your items.
What is the process for claiming Listing Fees credits?
You don't have to apply for or request the Listing Fees credit. As long as your relisted item fulfils the criteria below, the Listing Fees will be automatically credited to your seller account as soon as the relisted item is sold.
