Note: 10 Day duration Feature (Listing Upgrade) will continue to be charged at Rs. 25 for listings in the Auction format
Please Note: A minimum Final Value Fee of Rs. 3.00 will henceforth be charged on all transactions.
Where right now, all SIF listings are displayed at the end of the core search results when a buyer searches for an item, they will now be merged with the Fixed Price & Auction listings that are displayed in the core search results. This means that all your current SIF listings will receive a lot more visibility than they currently do and this has the potential to increase your sales on eBay India.
Along with the increased visibility for your listings, shop subscribers will also enjoy discounted Listing Fee pricing of only Re. 1.00 for a 30 day duration listing where a non-shop subscriber will be charged an Listing Fee of Re. 1.00 and a special duration fee of Rs. 3.00 for a 30 day listing. This means that shop subscribers will now be able to list 4 times the number of 30 day listings compared to a non-shop subscriber with the same visibility for the same Listing Fees.
And to make shop subscriptions work even better for you, we are making available all the Features (Listing Upgrades) currently available on the site to only Fixed Price & Auction Listings to all your 30 Day and GTC listings. What’s more, these Features (Listing Upgrades) will be available to shop subscribers at a significant discount over the fees charged on these Features to non-shop subscribers!
Cross-over listings are those listings that are live at the time of the above changes going live (00:00:01 IST (12:00 AM plus 1 second) on the 10th of September 2009).
If you are a shop subscriber and you have listings created before the above mentioned cross-over time and live at the time of the cross-over, all these listings will be charged the old Listing & Feature Fees.
Listings re-listed before the above mentioned cross-over time will be charged the old Listing & Feature Fees.
Relisting cross-over listings post the cross-over time will incur the new Listing and Feature Fees.
Listings scheduled before the above mentioned cross-over time and going live after the cross-over time will attract the new Listing & Feature Fees.
In light of the changes to shop subscription fees, shop fees will be prorated as per the following calculation.
Let’s assume a seller subscribes to a Basic shop on 25th August 2009 when the subscription fees will be the existing fees (Rs. 249) and the sellers billing cycle falls on 1 September (invoice date). eBay launches the price changes on 10 September and the fees change to Rs. 299. The subscription fees that will be charged to this seller will be as below:
The seller will be charged for the period 25th Aug – 31st Aug and also in advance for the period 1st Sept-30th Sept on a pro-rated basis as below:
Also, the 30 day free trial for new shop subscribers across all shop tiers (Basic, Featured & Premium) will no longer be available for new shop subscriptions.
eBay India encourages all sellers to consider which shop subscription will provide the greatest value and choose the level that is right for them.
No. You can discontinue your subscription anytime you like. However, the following rules apply:
Therefore, in the above example, after subscribing to a Basic shop on the 25th of August 2009, if the seller discontinues his/her shop subscription on the 6th of Sept 2009, he will be charged the fees for the entire 30 day period. However, after the first 30 days of subscription, should the seller choose to discontinue his/her subscription on the 42nd day of the subscription, he/she will be charged for only the 12 days of the second 30 day cycle. Therefore, the seller will be charged for a minimum of 30 days irrespective of the duration of subscription (even in case the seller discontinues his/her subscription before the 30 days) and the shop subscription fees will be prorated for all the following 30 day cycles.
You can change the level of your shop subscription any time you like. Different shop subscriptions incur different pricing options.
All listings in all the categories, listed after 00:00:01 IST (12:00 AM plus 1 second) on the 10th of September 2009, will be subject to the new pricing structure.
The current Listing Fee model on eBay India is one where each listing by a seller is charged Re. 1.00 for his/her first 1500 listings in a month. Post which, the Listing Fee for each listing in that month by that seller reduces to zero. This ‘Discounted Listing Fee’ model is popularly known as Max. Cap.
The changes to fees on eBay India will impact various categories differently and are as follows:5,7,10 Day Duration Listings | ||
Categories | Listing Fee below 1500 | Listing Fee above 1500 |
Jewellery and Apparel & Accessories | Re.1.00 | FREE |
Media Categories | FREE | FREE |
Technology Categories | Re.1.00 | Rs.0.50 |
Rest of site | Re.1.00 | Rs.0.50 |
*There will be a special duration fee of Rs.3 for non shop subscibers listing with a 30 day duration.
30 Day & GTC duration listings in Books & Magazines, Movies & Music and Video & Computer Games will be charged zero Listing Fees.
Current
In the above categories, currently, sellers pay zero Listing Fees for listings above 1500 in a month for listings in all durations and all formats.
Change
Going forward, while the normal Listing Fee for listing in these categories will remain at Re. 1.00, the Listing Fees for non 1 & 3 day duration listings (in both Fixed Price and Auction formats) greater than 1500 in a month will be Rs. 0.50. 1 & 3 day duration listings will be charged at Re. 1.00 irrespective of whether a seller has crossed the 1500 limit in any form.
Current
Listings of all durations (1,3,5,7,10,30,GTC) are considered to determine the eligibility of a seller for Max. Cap.
Change
While the concept of ‘Zero Listing Fee’ for listings above 1500 in a month will continue in Jewellery and Apparel categories on eBay India, 1 day and 3 day listings will no longer be eligible for this benefit. This means that the total of a seller’s non 1 & 3 day listings will need to cross 1500 for the seller to avail of the zero Listing Fee benefit. All 1 day and 3 day listings will be charged Listing Fee of Re. 1.00 per listing.
Please Note: Only listings in Jewellery and Apparel & Accessories categories will be eligible for Max. Cap benefit above 1500 listings (Zero Listing Fees) going forward.
Books & Magazines, Movies & Music, Video & Computer Games categories:
The current zero Listing Fees in these categories for any number of listings will continue without any changes.
The above pricing changes will be effective from 00:00:01 IST (12:00 AM plus 1 second) on the 16th of September 2009.
All the above changes will be applied on a pro-rata basis for the month of September 2009. This means that for computation of Max. Cap credits for the month of September 2009, listers who list at least 750 listings between the 1st to the 15th of September 2009 ((11:59 PM plus 59 seconds) (excl. BMMG) will receive Listing Fee credits as per the current Max. Cap policy. All the listings by a lister between the 16th to the 30th of September 2009 will be accounted for Max. Cap credits basis the above detailed new Max. Cap policy with the cut-off for minimum number of listings being 750 for these 15 days (16th September 2009 – 30th September 2009).
Example: A seller listing 1000 listings between 1st and 15th of September 2009 in various categories (excl. Books & Magazines, Movies & Music, Video and Computer Games) will be eligible for zero Listing Fees on 250 (1000-750) of these listings.
Similarly, consider a seller listing 1000 listings in Jewellery between the 16th and 30th September 2009 with the following mix of durations:
1 Day Duration – 200
3 Day Duration – 200
5 Day Duration – 350
7 Day Duration – 250
While his total number of listings are still 1000, he will now not be eligible for any credits on Listing Fees as his total number of non 1 & 3 day listings is 350+250 = 600 listings while the minimum number of non 1 & 3 day listings required to be eligible for credits on Listing Fees for listings between the 16th and 30th Sept 2009 is 750.
For all the seller’s listings in the month of October 2009 (and going forward), the new Max. Cap credit policy (detailed above) will be employed.
As is currently, Max. Cap credits for a particular month will continue to be posted a maximum of 30 days after the end of the calendar month.
Why are these changes being made?
At eBay India, it has been our constant endeavor to improve buyer experience by providing them great deals across a wide variety of products and helping them find it quickly. Parallelly, we are also committed to providing all our sellers an unmatched business platform that constantly improves their visibility and sales and rewards variety, quality & value. In the past one year, few steps that we have taken towards the same are increased deals for buyers and inclusion of larger number of sellers in the eBay India success story.
Discounted Listing Fees on eBay India was introduced in July 2008 with the intent of enabling our sellers to display their entire inventory at in a cost effective manner. While this has been successful in some categories, in a few others, it has caused an imbalance impacting visibility and overall finding experience of buyers.
In line with the objective of supporting and encouraging a balanced marketplace, we are making changes to ensure sellers of all kinds whether they are large volume sellers or small casual sellers, continue to grow their business on eBay India and provide buyers with lots of safe, easy deals and a delighting experience.
And we believe these changes will give the thousands of sellers on eBay India the perfect opportunity to scale their business with the confidence that they will see returns in line with the increase in the quality and variety of listings the put up on eBay.in
What can I do to improve my business on eBay in light of these changes?
As always, buyers on eBay India will continue to look for lots of safe, easy deals. The best way a seller can meet buyer expectations is to continue the focus on bringing to the table quality items that are either unique/hard to find or are a great bargain.
Buyers always react positively to quality listings with accurate item title and description, use of images to convey the product features/nuances, appropriate shipping costs and other amenities (viz., Warranty Policy, Returns/Refunds Policy, etc). We believe that with a more balanced marketplace, the right listing with the above characteristics will determine success of a listing and thereby, the seller’s continued success in exceeding buyer expectations.
We continue to advise our sellers to list their popular selling items in the 1,3,5,7,10 day durations and the rest of their inventory in 30 day and GTC listing durations. 30 day & GTC listings will have increased visibility and therefore, a greater chance of sale. This coupled with the attractive pricing for 30 day & GTC listings on both Listing Fees and Feature (Listing Upgrade) Fees makes these durations very attractive for the appropriate inventory.
By listing unique items at attractive prices in appropriate listing durations and formats, a seller can make the most of the pricing changes currently rolling out on eBay India.
Sellers can make changes to their live/scheduled listings to account for the above changes using listing editing tools such as Turbo Lister or the Bulk Edit functionality available on site. To download the latest version of Turbo Lister, click here.
