eBay India, India’s leading online marketplace, today announced the appointment of two new Country Managers effective September 1, 2005. Gautam Thakar, Head of Marketing at eBay India will now be Country Manager of the eBay Marketplace, and Rajan Mehra, Head of Motors & Business Development at eBay India will now be Country Manager of New Ventures & Payments.
eBay India is the online marketplace where buyers and sellers trade almost anything from clothing and collectibles to books and Bollywood memorabilia. The New Ventures & Payments unit encompasses the Motors and PaisaPay businesses.
Avnish Bajaj, the current Country Manager of eBay India has taken on the role of Chairman, eBay India. He will assist eBay International in developing the overall strategy for eBay in India and will be working closely with the new Country Managers.
Both Thakar and Mehra will report into eBay International. eBay believes that the new management changes will allow for enhanced focus to maximize ecommerce in India.
Gautam Thakar has been an instrumental part of the eBay India management team since 2000 and has helped build the brand & a vibrant community of e-commerce users in India. Prior to this, Gautam was with Procter & Gamble’s Brand Marketing Group in India & the Philippines. Rajan Mehra has been associated with the eBay India management team from 2001 and has built a strong nationwide Motors business amongst his many accomplishments. Prior to eBay, Rajan was the COO of another successful internet start-up.
