A rare book is up for auction on eBay India as we approach our Independence Day. An autograph book from the times of pre-Independent India containing autographs of India's renowned freedom fighters is up for grabs on the site starting at a price of Rs 1,50,000/-. The seller, Mr. Jawahar Khanna, is a 75 year old who collected these himself as a school boy in Simla. Mr. Khanna was a boy scout and along with other boy scouts from Simla, were sent on duty to attend the Simla conference.
The Book contains 17 autographs of stalwarts like:
- Mahatama Gandhi
- Jawaharlal Nerhu
- Sarojini Naidu - "The Nightingale of India".
- Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad - President of the Indian National Congress and then free India's first Education Minister.
- Liaquat Ali Khan- Muslim League- First Prime Minister of Pakistan
- Gobind Ballabh Pant - First Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh
The autographs were collected when these leaders gathered in Simla in mid 1945, during The Simla Conference between the Indian Leaders, Freedom Fighters and the British.
Mr. Khanna used to be an insurance consultant till he retired. He is looking at parting with this rare autograph collection in a bid to raise funds & use the money to make his life more comfortable.
