eBay India announces 'Diamond Week'
Mumbai, April 20, 2005

eBay India, India's leading online marketplace, announced a special focus on Diamonds from Monday, April 25, 2005 to Saturday, April 30, 2005. In the 'Diamond Week', over 650 online jewellery sellers will list over 7,000 pieces of diamond jewellery and loose diamonds.

John Anderson, Head of Categories, eBay India announced the Diamond Week today at an event to mark the completion of the sale of over 200,000 jewellery items sold on eBay India (formerly Baazee.com). John Anderson stated, "I am thrilled to announce the launch of eBay India's first Diamond Week. Diamonds are one of the most searched for items on eBay and the diamond sellers are some of the most entrepreneurial sellers we see in the marketplace. With April being the month of diamonds, there was no better time to bring buyers and sellers together to celebrate this category."

With the recent integration, eBay India joined the eBay worldwide family of sites with a common global visual identity. Buyers and sellers in India now have access to a global trading community of 135 million users in 32 markets worldwide. eBay India, now allows Indian users to trade locally, regionally and globally along with the rest of eBay's worldwide community of users. No other web site offers Indian traders a proven local service with an international reach. Indian users can use their single eBay India ID to trade internationally. Indian sellers can sell their product by listing them on any of the 32 eBay market sites. Indian buyers can also choose to buy products from any of the eBay local sites.

John added, "We see great potential for Indian entrepreneurs to trade globally especially in categories such as jewellery, apparel, leather, collectibles, & handicrafts. Globally eBay users trade over $1.7 billion of jewellery. Today, Indian sellers are already making thousands of items available to this vibrant global community of 135 million users."

All through the week long celebration of Diamonds, there will be great diamond deals on offer. There will be diamonds@1 paisa. All the promoted diamonds will be on auction. In addition, we will have a special focus on diamond solitaire rings, coloured diamonds and certified diamond jewellery.
