Keyword spamming occurs when members place brand names or other inappropriate keywords in a title or description for the purpose of gaining attention or diverting members to a listing. The searchable text sellers place in listings must be directly relevant to the item being sold.

Amit has a backpack he'd like to sell on eBay. It's not a brand-name backpack, so he's concerned that if he just lists it as a "backpack", no one will find his listing. He often carries his Apple iPod with Sony headphones in his backpack, so he decides to list his generic backpack as "Black backpack fits iPod w/Sony headphones". Is it ok for Amit to list his backpack this way?

a. Yes, how can he drive buyers to his listing if he doesn't list these brand names?
b. Yes, as the backpack can carry these items, he is allowed to put those brand names in the title
c. Yes, Sony and iPod buyers might want a backpack that could carry their products
d. No, Amit should not add "Sony" and "iPod" to his title as it will result in unwanted search results for those members interested in purchasing "Sony" or "iPod" products.
