Warranties

eBay members who offer items on eBay valued at more than Rs. 1000 and who offer either a written warranty or service contract with the items must in their item descriptions provide the following:

  • The full text of the written warranty

    • Warrant period

    • Things covered under warranty

    • Key exceptions to warranty

    • Process to make a claim

Note: This policy is applicable for all listings created after 15th June 2007 00:00 hours.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Account suspension

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

Why does eBay have this policy?

The policy will help bring greater transparency in the warranty being offered in a listing, thereby reducing ambiguity that leads to bad experiences between buyers and sellers. Also, eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations.
