Item Location Misrepresentation Policy

Sellers must accurately represent the location from which their item will be shipped in the item location field. False, inaccurate, or misleading information about the shipping location of an item is not allowed on eBay.

Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

  • Limits on account privileges

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

  • Account suspension

Some Examples

Examples of accurate item location include:

New Delhi, India
Hong Kong, Hong Kong
Sydney, Australia

Examples of inaccurate item location include:

Mumbai, USA
Lahore, India
Hong Kong, United Kingdom

Why does eBay have this policy?

Inaccurate location representation leads to higher shipping costs and longer shipping times than expected for buyers. Listings that breach eBay policy undermine the trust and legitimacy of the marketplace and are harmful to both sellers and buyers within the Community.
