Creating and Protecting Your eBay Password
Stay safe online by creating a secure password and protecting it. Whether you're online or offline, care for your password as you would care for the key to your house. Protect your password and account information
Important: eBay employees will never ask you to provide your password by email.
Take the following steps to protect your password. and your account.
Create a different password for each online account that you have. Avoid using the same password for your eBay account and your email account, or using the same password that you use on other Web sites.
Create a more secure password by using a combination of letters and numbers.
Change your password often, at least every 30 to 60 days.
Note: Before you change your password, make sure your email address is current. eBay uses this email address to complete the password change process (for more information, see Changing Your Contact Information). To change your password now, go to the Change Your Password page.
Do not share your password with others.
Review the privacy policies of third parties that offer you services to determine how your information will be protected.

Beware of fake eBay emails and Web sites. These are spoof emails and typically ask you to submit personal information such as your credit card number or your eBay password. These emails often contain links to Web pages that will request that you sign-in and submit information. If you receive or suspect that you have received such an email, do not respond to it or click the links. For more information, see Reporting Spoof (Fake) Emails.
Before entering you eBay password, make sure you are signing into a genuine eBay Web site. If you're signing in to the eBay India site, only enter your password at a Web address (URL) that begins with https://signin.ebay.in/.
