Getting Started: Setting up your eBay account for international selling

The guiding principle around which payment options to offer is "What is the payment option most preferred by the buyer?" There are various payment options that you can specify for your buyers, however for international selling, the option preferred by most buyers is PayPal.

What's PayPal

PayPal is how individuals and businesses send and receive money online.

Benefits for Buyers:

Affordable - PayPal is free for buyers
Convenient - Buyers can use their bank account, a credit card or their existing PayPal balance to pay for the item
Safer: PayPal covers your eBay purchases for the full purchase price and original shipping costs.
What this means for a seller is that if you offer PayPal, your items are more likely to sell.

Shop internationally : Buyers enjoy a global shopping spree while paying securely in 19 currencies.

Benefits for Sellers:

You save time: Easy way to accept credit card and online banking payments

PayPal protects you: PayPal Seller Protection covers unauthorized payment or item-not-received claims, chargebacks, and reversals. See eligibility

Buyers like it : Increase your sales by accepting PayPal. The majority of eBay buyers around the world prefer PayPal.

Other Payment Options You can also specify the following payment options (for buyers in the US):
- Cashier's Check – This is the equivalent of a Demand Draft in India.
- Personal Check – These are regular checks issues by the buyer.
- Merchant CC – If you are registered as a merchant for a Credit Card company you may specify this option.

Keep in mind that international cheques take longer (up to several weeks) to clear.
