No, if you provide contact information in your listings, it is mandatory to include the "Safe Buying" banner to educate new buyers. Listings not complying with this requirement will be cancelled.

3.

Why is eBay making it mandatory to include the "Safe Buying" banner along with contact information?

The "Safe Buying" banner is essential to educate new buyers about completing their purchases on the eBay platform to be eligible for eBay services, including the eBay Buyer Protection Program, Feedback, Item Not Received process.

This is to give new buyers, who may be new to online shopping, the assurance and confidence of trading in a safe and secure environment.

To include the "Safe Buying" banner in your listing description, you need to copy the following HTML code and paste it in the Description section of the Sell Your Item form.

The HTML code is:

No, eBay will always contact you only on your registered telephone number and email address.

Any emails from eBay will be sent to your registered email address as well as to My Messages in My eBay. To protect yourself from fake or spoof emails, please install the eBay Toolbar.

Important Note: eBay will never ask you to provide account numbers, passwords or other sensitive information through email. If you have any doubt whether an email really is from eBay, open a new browser window, type www.ebay.in, and sign in. Any email that looks as if it is from eBay, mentions a problem with your account or requests personal information, and is not in My Messages in My eBay, is a spoof (fake) email.

Tips to deal with suspicious emails
If you feel you have received a suspicious email:

  • Do not click on any link in the email. The purpose of spoof email is to lead you to a Web site and attempt to collect personal information and commit identity theft or other crimes.

Important: To help eBay investigate your report, please forward the email without adding attachments and adding or altering text.
